Colombia Entry Checklist for a Dental Trip: Passport, Check-Mig and Return Ticket

A current 2026 entry-planning checklist for U.S. dental travelers to Colombia, with official links and a reminder to recheck before flying.

Updated September 13, 2026 · Independent trip-planning information · Not dental advice

Entry rules are travel rules, not dental rules, but they can cancel the whole treatment plan if ignored. For U.S. citizens, Colombia is generally straightforward for a short treatment trip — provided you verify the current requirements before departure.

Current U.S. traveler basics

As of September 2026, the U.S. Department of State says U.S. citizens generally do not need a Colombian visa for tourism or business stays of 90 days or less. A valid U.S. passport is required. The State Department recommends six months of passport validity and notes that Colombia may deny entry without proof of onward or return travel.

Check-Mig belongs on the calendar

The State Department currently advises travelers to complete Colombia’s free online Check-Mig form between 1 and 72 hours before the flight. Do not pay a random third-party website for a form you can complete through the official Colombian process.

Read the current travel advisory, not a blog screenshot

The U.S. Department of State advisory issued March 31, 2026 lists Colombia at Level 3, Reconsider Travel, with specific “Do Not Travel” areas. Conditions and advisory levels can change. Read the official page shortly before departure and review the specific city/region involved in your itinerary.
